Jets Rookie: NFL Protects Tom Brady

Sheldon Richardson, the 13th overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft, has had a good rookie season so far for the New York Jets. However, his mouth may make success this weekend a little more difficult for the young defensive tackle.

Providing Tom Brady and the New England Patriots with bulletin board material is never a good idea, yet that is exactly what Richardson did when he said the NFL protects Tom Brady. “That’s the way it looks like to me, man, you can’t touch him,” he said. He went on to say that the Patriots, and Brady in particular, were among those he wanted a “shot at.”

The Missouri product has earned a starting job with the better-than-expected Jets and has played well, providing 30 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble for the defense. Still, he probably should have waited until after this weekend’s matchup against the Patriots to call out one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks of all time.
