Chicago Bears Game Temporarily Suspended, Fans Seek Shelter After Severe Tornado Warning
Sunday's NFL game between the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens at Soldier Field has been temporarily suspended after it started because of a severe tornado watch. Fans were advised to take shelter in the nearest covered concourse and players and coaches left the field. A tornado has already touched down in Peoria, Illinois and the storm cell that the National Weather Service said was "extraordinarily rare" is headed toward Chicago.
A message on the stadium scoreboard read:
Attention: Please clear the stadium seating area and relocate to the nearest covered concourse
Baltimore was leading 10-0 in the first quarter.
The National Weather Service had tweeted that the "worst decision" people could make on Sunday would be to "ignore" a severe tornado warning
