The Miami Dolphins have put embattled offensive lineman Richie Incognito on paid leave for the rest of the season while the NFL investigates his “bullying” and “harassment” case against fellow teammate Jonathan Martin.
Incognito has lost nearly $500,000 after he as indefinitely suspended, but that suspension was to have ended after Sunday’s game against New England.
According to NFL.com:
Per the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, Incognito’s suspension was scheduled to end following Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. The Dolphins were faced with the option of releasing Incognito, reinstating him or working out an agreement to keep him well-compensated — but out of sight. They chose door No. 3.
Incognito was suspended indefinitely Nov. 3 for conduct detrimental to the team after a voicemail surfaced in which Incognito used a racial slur and threatened violence against estranged offensive tackle Jonathan Martin.
