Ravens Kicker: I Can Make 70-Yard Field Goals
Justin Tucker, the Baltimore Ravens field goal kicker who became the first NFL player to hit field goals from 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards in a game when he did so on Monday, says he can make a field goal from 70--and even 79--yards. The NFL record is 64 yards, which was set by Denver's Matt Prater this month.
"If I pulled out the 8-degree driver – on a day when I'm feeling real fresh – I could probably hit one from 70 yards,'' Tucker told USA Today. "I hit one from 70 yards in pregame in Detroit this past Monday night.''
He said he has also hit from 79 yards in practice.
"That was in Denver before our opener in September," he said. "The weather was perfect; the field was good. With the altitude in the Rocky Mountains, the ball jumps off your foot."
Tucker, the second-year star out of Texas sings opera, loves hip hop, and owns himself on his fantasy team.
He may also win the team's MVP award as a kicker.
