Mock Tournament Round 1: Pac-12 89, Southern 65 and Horizon 75, Patriot 67

In San Diego, the 5-seed Pac12 rolled to the second biggest win in any Round 1 game, as surprise newcomer Delon Wright (Utah point guard) joined the four better-known starters in double figures. They will travel to Anaheim to meet the 12-seed Horizon League, which held off the Patriot League despite a dominant 14-point performance by Colgate Power Forward Austin Tillotson.

Cleveland State’s Bryn Forbes almost matched Tillotson basket for basket, and Kendrick Perry (Youngstown St. shooting guard) was the top Horizon League player.

In the mock tournament, all 32 conferences were seeded based on their ratings at www.kenpom.com, and then sent to their likely 2014 tournament sites. The top 10 players to date from each conference were pitted against their counterpart using the Value Add Predictor to determine how many points each player would score against his counterpart, with the winning team advancing. All players can be looked up at www.valueaddbasketball.com. The following are the box scores for both games:
