Richard Sherman Apologizes to Teammates for Taking Attention Away from Them

On Monday, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman apologized to his teammates for inadvertently taking the attention away from their spectacular performance in the NFC title game against San Francisco.

“I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates,” Sherman told Ed Werder of ESPN. “That was not my intent.”

Sherman wrote similar comments in his MMQB column he penned on Monday regarding his post-game interview with Erin Andrews that instantly went viral.

As in politics, the “orchestra pit” theory was as true as ever, as Sherman’s remarks overshadowed his team and even his own spectacular game-saving deflection, which was one of the plays of the year in the NFL.
