Dolphins Owner Says Martin Won't Be Back… Then Retracts Comment Seconds Later

On Tuesday, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said embattled linemen Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito will probably not return to the team next year–and then he promptly retracted his statement seconds later at a press conference in which he was introducing the team’s next general manager.

“I don’t believe so,” Ross said when asked if Martin and Incognito would return.

He then immediately backtracked.

Martin has said that he felt “trapped” in the Dolphins locker room after he left the team during the season. The Dolphins suspended Incognito indefinitely for the rest of the season after Martin alleged that much of the “abuse” he received was at the hands of Incognito. An NFL investigation into the matter will reportedly come out after the Super Bowl.
