Sarah Palin: 'Lift One' for Chris Kyle During Super Bowl 2014

Today, we take part in an American tradition. A holiday really, that’s not technically a holiday. The Super Bowl brings friends and family together for food, fun, and, of course, football. While we are watching the big game and admiring the skills of Peyton Manning, Wes Welker, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, and Kam Chancellor, we should also take a moment to remember the true heroes. Many of our military members will not have the luxury of enjoying the game today. Still others are no longer with us. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is remembering one hero in particular: Chris Kyle.

“Amidst celebration today on Super Bowl Sunday, please remember prayers for Chris Kyle’s family. A year ago today this American hero was senselessly murdered. Chris Kyle and all our brave military men and women protecting our God-given freedom are the real reason for any celebration in this great nation. Chris Kyle was committed to supporting our vets and all American patriots, so in honor of those serving something greater than self, lift one especially for Chris Kyle. He gave all.”

Palin got to know Kyle when he appeared on the NBC show Stars Earn Stripes with Todd Palin. Kyle was shot and killed at a shooting range on this date in 2013. He was a hero. The top sniper this nation has ever known. He is missed by mourning patriots across the country. Palin went to Kyle’s funeral and said that President Barack Obama should “pay his respects” to Kyle.

Just like so many of us, Sarah Palin is a huge sports fan. She has expressed her rooting interest in the Seattle Seahawks. No doubt, Palin cares about sports and will enjoy the game today. But she will be thinking about Chris Kyle and his family as well. We should be remembering him too. After all, it’s men like Kyle that fight for us and allow us to enjoy things like Super Bowl Sunday every year in this exceptional country.
