Jamie Anderson Leads Americans to Sweep of Slopestyle Gold Medals

Jamie Anderson traveled to the winter games in Vancouver in 2010 as a spectator. She’s leaving the Sochi winter games as a gold-medal winner.

The South Lake Tahoe, California snowboarder won the inaugural women’s slopestyle event at the Olympic Games on Sunday. The X-Games-extracted event features competitors seeking to gain elevation off jumps, perform difficult tricks, and navigate obstacles. To that end, Anderson landed two 720s during her snowboarding run. She placed second in the event at last month’s Winter X-Games.

Anderson’s first-place winning performance completed an American sweep of gold medals for Sochi in the new Olympic event. Sage Kotsenburg captured gold in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding competition on Saturday.
