Fan Marcus Smart Shoved Denies Using 'N-Word,' Admits Yelling Something 'I Shouldn't Have'
The Texas Tech super fan that Oklahoma State star whom Marcus Smart shoved on Saturday night in the waning moments of Oklahoma State's loss has reportedly denied that he called Smart the "N-word."
Jeff Orr, who has been caught on tape making derogatory gestures toward opposing players in the past, did reportedly concede that he said something he "shouldn't have." ESPN's Doug Gottlieb shared some text messages in which Orr regrets the incident but says that his words were not "vulgar." Announcers at the game reportedly said that Smart alleged that Orr called him the "N-word," and that was why he shoved him.
Regardless of what Orr said and whether it is appropriate for grown men to taunt college students, the reaction has been nearly universal that Smart should have kept his cool. A former Oklahoma State basketball player who said he was called the "N-word" every time the team played at Texas Tech said Smart had "no excuses" for his actions that will most likely get him severely disciplined.
Smart will reportedly address the incident at a press conference on Sunday evening at Oklahoma State.
