Anquan Boldin Stays in San Francisco

Receiver Anquan Boldin announced that he has reached an agreement to remain a 49er for the 2014 season. Fans of the franchise, which was one throw away from the Super Bowl this season, are surely relieved.

“49er fans, I wanted to be the first to tell you that I’m returning to San Francisco,” Boldin explained in a prepared statement. “Looking forward to joining my teammates, coaching staff and fans to bring back another championship to the Bay Area. Let’s go after our Quest For Six.”

The 49ers played in their third straight NFC championship game after acquiring the 33-year-old receiver from Baltimore last year. Boldin caught 85 passes for 1,178 yards in 2013, showing no signs of slowing down. Boldin’s 11,344 receiving yards put him right behind former teammate Larry Fitzgerald at fifth among active NFL players.
