Bo Knows, Russell Doesn't….Multisport Legend Advises Seattle QB to Stick to Football

Bo Jackson made Brian Bosworth look like a Pop Warner player on Monday Night Football. He went all parkour on the centerfield wall at Memorial Stadium after making a running catch. But if he were to do it again today, he’d pick one or the other but not both.

That’s his message to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. The Heisman Trophy-winner and MLB all-star spoke to the media after working with prospects in the Chicago White Sox organization at spring training on Tuesday.

“Stick to what got you in the headlines, not baseball,” Bo Jackson told Comcast SportsNet Chicago about Wilson. “Twenty-five or 30 years ago when I did it, I’m not trying to say anything negative about other athletes, but the talent pool wasn’t that deep. In this day in age, with all the high-tech training, computer-engineered workouts, and the proper food and diet, if you try to concentrate on two sports, I guarantee you’re going to ride the bench in both because the talent is that deep. Stick to whatever sport you’re comfortable with and let everything else go.”

Jackson averaged 5.4 yards per carry in his short but explosive career with the Raiders and hit .250 with 141 home runs in an injury-abbreviated career in Major League Baseball.
