49ers Will Host Broncos in First Game at New Stadium

The San Francisco 49ers will play their first game in their new Santa Clara stadium during the second week of the NFL preseason against the Denver Broncos.

The debut game at $1.2 billion Levi’s Stadium will be played between Aug. 14-18, according to a preliminary schedule released by the NFL on Wednesday.

The 49ers, who used to play at Candlestick Park, will open the preseason at Baltimore in a game that will pit the Harbaugh brothers — Jim for the 49ers and John for the Ravens — for the third time. The NFL has yet to release the regular season schedule.

No word on whether Jim Harbaugh will wear permanently wear Dickies ($23 on sale) — or something better from the Levi’s family of pants — instead of his famous $8 pleated khakis from Walmart.

Before the 49ers open their new stadium, here are some indelible moments from Candlestick Park, their old stadium.
