Obama Chimes in Agreeing with NBA Ban on Clippers Owner
President Obama has now added his voice to those criticizing LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling by coming out in support of the NBA's actions against the team owner.
During his April 30 press conference, the president's press secretary, Jay Carney, said that Obama was on board with NBA chief Adam Silver's decision to ban Sterling from the league.
"The president believes that the NBA has done the right thing, understanding of course that the NBA is the institution that makes the decision," Carney said. "As both a basketball fan and someone who would be concerned about these issues, he thinks they did the right thing."
Over the previous weekend, Obama labeled Sterling's comments "incredibly offensive."
The NBA has passed a ban-for-life punishment on the Clippers owner but he still owns the team. The next step in this saga will be a decision from the NBA owners whether to attempt to force a sale of the team.
