Dolphin Don Jones Returns from Sensitivity Training

Don Jones, the Dolphins player sent to sensitivity training for a Tweet criticizing openly gay player Michael Sam, is now off suspension and back with his teammates.

On May 10 the Miami Dolphins fined Jones and put him on suspension pending participation in sensitivity training when he Tweeted and quickly deleted comments about Michael Sam's behavior on the day he was drafted in a late seventh-round pick.

After being picked Sam kissed his partner on national television spurring Jones to tweet "OMG" and "horrible" after that display of affection. In the wake of news that cameras for an Oprah Winfrey Network reality-television show followed Sam as he smeared cake on his boyfriend and kissed him, widespread speculation, even among Sam's well-wishers, posits that the Rams pass rusher's public displays of affection may have been less than authentic gestures.

Jones apologized for his Tweets only hours after he deleted the Tweets.

I take full responsibility for them and I regret that these tweets took away from his draft moment. I remember last year when I was drafted in the seventh round and all of the emotions and happiness I felt when I received the call that gave me an opportunity to play for an NFL team and I wish him all the best in his NFL career. I sincerely apologize to Mr. Ross, my teammates, coaches, staff and fans for these tweets. I am committed to represent the values of the Miami Dolphins organization and appreciate the opportunity I have been given to do so going forward.

But that wasn't enough for the Dolphins. They fined the safety and sent off to sensitivity training.

Now it is reported that Jones adequately concluded his re-adjustment training. The chastised player is now being fully re-instated.
