John Daly: I Had 'a Lot of Fun' Gambling Away $55 Million in 16 Years

Professional golfer John Daly said even he was shocked when he discovered that he had gambled away at least $55 million in 16 years.

"I was shocked," Daly said, noting that he thought he may have lost only $20-25 million. He chalked it up to "stupidity." Daly wrote about his gambling losses in his autobiography last decade, but he spoke about it again during an appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger that aired on Wednesday.

Daly said when he calculated his tax returns and receipts, his losses amounted to "$50-57 million" from 1991 to 2007.

He said he "had a lot of fun doing it," was not going to say he had any regrets and has moved on.

Daly said he just loved "the action" and "the adrenaline" and said he would play slot machines with $5,000 coins. He said he played slot machines for two straight days. He liked Blackjack too, and Daly said he would sometimes be up $5 million before ending up losing $2 million on some nights because he could not stop gambling.
