Roger Federer Flies to Second Round in Wimbledon

LONDON – Day 2 of Wimbledon did not start off with a bang like day 1. The top seeds easily advanced, such as fourth seed Roger Federer. He beat Paolo Lorenzi 6-1, 6-1, 6-3.

Federer played extremely well throughout the match, but not every game was easy for him. In the first set, he broke Lorenzi in the second game and won the third and fourth games on aces. Yet, in the second set he dropped the first game after four break points eluded him. But Roger did not allow it to get to him and he shook it off. He easily won the last five games and broke Lorenzi three times.

The most dramatic part of the third set was the eighth game. It went eight deuces and Roger had four chances to win the match and break Lorenzi, but could not do it. He won the match in game nine.

He left the match with nine aces and stopped all five breaks against him.
