MLB Names All-Stars

Major League Baseball has announced the American League and National League rosters for the All-Star Game. There are a lot of Brewers, A’s, and Orioles on it.

Here’s who the fans wanted to see (current complete rosters here) in the starting lineups:

American League: C Matt Wieters, Orioles; 1B Miguel Cabrera, Tigers; 2B Robinson Cano, Mariners; SS Derek Jeter, Yankees; 3B Josh Donaldson, Athletics; DH Nelson Cruz, Orioles; OF Jose Bautista, Blue Jays; OF Mike Trout, Angels; OF Adam Jones, Orioles

National League: C Yadier Molina, Cardinals; 1B Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks; 2B Chase Utley, Phillies; SS Troy Tulowitzki, Rockies; 3B Aramis Ramirez, Brewers; DH Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins; OF Andrew McCutchen, Pirates; OF Carlos Gomez, Brewers; OF Yasiel Puig, Dodgers

Injuries, trades, and the “fan vote” filling in the final roster spot for each club complicate the announced All-Star teams. For instance, Matt Wieters is out for the season and Jeff Samardzija got traded from the Cubs to the A’s this weekend, making him ineligible to pitch for the National League. The game takes place on July 15 at Target Field.
