Bay Bridge Series Ends with Woman Fan Punched in Face

After the Oakland A’s trounced the San Francisco Giants 6-1 on Thursday at AT&T Park, another trouncing took place just outside the park. Shortly after the game ended, a fight broke out between fans, sending one woman wearing an A’s hat to the hospital.

SFGate reported that at 5:50 p.m. an altercation erupted between two fans when a woman wedged her way into the middle of it to break it up. During the melee one man punched the woman in the face. The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where a police spokesman said that she is “responding to treatment.” A man who was punched during the altercation was treated for a chipped tooth at the scene.

Late on Thursday, one suspect was arrested by the Sacramento Police Department and no further information has been provided.

With the Oakland victory, they won the four-game series between the neighboring cities 3-1. Scott Kazmir got the win in an impressive performance on the mound. The A’s are leading the Angels by 3.5 games and the Giants are trailing the Dodgers by 1 game in their divisional races.
