#1 Pick Andrew Wiggins Signs with Cavaliers

Andrew Wiggins is not in Kansas anymore. He may not be in Cleveland for long, either.

The swingman has signed a four-year deal with the Cavaliers. The contract gives the first pick in last month’s draft the rookie maximum at $5.5 million in his first year.

The deal means, per NBA rules, that the Cavaliers cannot trade Wiggins for 30 days. The 19-year-old remains the key piece in a potential trade that would send Kevin Love from Minnesota to Cleveland.

The Bulls appear to be the top competition to the Cavs for the Timberwolves power forward. But with possibly three first-round selections in next year’s draft, and a wealth of young talent, Cleveland looks like the favorite to land Love. The acquisition would give the Cavaliers a potent 1-2 frontcourt punch in Le Bron James and Love, who averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last season.
