Marshawn Lynch Ends Holdout

Marshawn Lynch regularly pulls disappearing acts on the media. The training camp Houdini act Beast Mode pulled on his team wasn't his modus operandi.

Lynch ended his holdout and began his training camp Thursday night.

The Seattle running back's holdout struck observers as strange as the man himself. Enjoying a $13 million over two seasons, Lynch makes more money than all but four other NFL running backs. The position has taken a hit in the pass-happy NFL. The first round of the NFL draft passed without a running back taken, for instance, and a marquee back such as Chris Johnson commanded just $8 million over two years with $3 million guaranteed in the free agent market. Add this macro issue to the micro fact that Seattle possesses a strong back up in Christine Michael, and one gleans why Lynch didn't wield much leverage in this fight.

Seattle appears poised to lift the fines levied upon Lynch during his absence and move forward some of the money at the back end of Lynch's deal. But according to numerous reports the dollar value of that contract remains the same.
