Ivory Coast Will Be Banned from Africa Cup if They Refuse to Play Team over Ebola Fears

Ivory Coast’s soccer team will reportedly be banned from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations if it refuses to play Sierra Leone “due to concerns over Ebola,” according to news reports

Parts of Western African are under quarantine due to ebola concerns, and the Ivory Coast’s Football Federation reportedly “said earlier this week it had received instruction from the Ivorian government to cancel or relocate the game, which was set to be staged in in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Sept. 6.”

According to Sports Illustrated, “a spokesman from the Confederation of African Football said that if a country forfeits a qualifying match, it will be disqualified.”
