An additional allegation that Adrian Peterson cut a four-year-old boy–separate from the one he faces a charge for beating with a switch–while disciplining him has surfaced in Houston. The allegation stems from a visit the child made to Peterson’s home in The Woodlands, Texas, in June 2013.
KHOU-TV in Houston obtained text messages and pictures of one of Peterson’s children that purport to show evidence that the Minnesota Vikings running back caused harm to this four-year-old boy. A text exchange publicized by the station reads:
Mother: “What happened to his head?”
Peterson: “Hit his head on the Carseat.”
Mother: “How does that happen, he got a whoopin in the car.”
Peterson: “Yep.”
Mother: “Why?”
Peterson: “I felt so bad. But he did it his self.”
When the child’s mother asked, “What did you hit him with?” Peterson subsequently responded: “Be still n take ya whooping he would have saved the [scar]. He aight.”
A Montgomery County, Texas, grand jury indicted the 2012 NFL MVP on a charge of “reckless or negligent injury to a child” on Friday. An earlier grand jury refused to indict the running back. The mother of this other four-year-old boy reportedly filed a complaint with Child Protective Services.
A South Dakota man allegedly murdered a third Peterson son last fall.
