Peyton Manning Rips Denver Jumbotron Operator

The Denver Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers by a comfortable 14 points on Thursday night. But Peyton Manning isn’t comfortable with the performance–of the scoreboard operator.

The Sports Authority Field at Mile High big-board operator riled fans up when the Broncos maintained possession with a couple of minutes remaining and ridiculed the opposing quarterback. According to Manning, it “wasn’t his best night.”

“I have no problem with our fans,” Manning told reporters after the game. “Our fans are great. I got a problem with our scoreboard operator. I’m going to have to have a little talk with him. I’m not sure what he’s doing. He was playing music and showing people players dancing and getting the crowd fired up and we have the ball. I don’t think we should be doing that.”

At the end of the fourth quarter, Manning, known for his audibles, frantically motioned for the home crowd to keep quiet. He shook his head in disgust when the noise continued.

Displaying a dejected Philip Rivers on the jumbotron also irritated the five-time MVP. “I don’t think we should be showing their quarterback on the sideline,” Manning held. “I thought that was kind of disrespectful.”

Peyton Manning faces old nemesis Tom Brady in a November 2 matchup. The big-screen operator may again annoy Mr. Manning. New England hosts the game.
