Like President Barack Obama, former basketball great Michael Jordan is a big fan of the links. While he loves golf, Jordan doesn’t seem to think much about how Obama plays the game.
In fact, in a recent interview, Jordan slammed the president as a “sh***y” golfer.
Jordan made the comments in an interview with sportscaster Ahmad Rashad, who asked the basketball star who he might include in his “ideal foursome” on the links.
Jordan said that two of those he wouldd include would be Arnold Palmer and Barack Obama. But almost immediately, Jordan had second thoughts about including the president on that ideal golf foursome.
“I’ve never played with Obama, but I would,” Jordan averred. “But naw, that’s okay. I take him out. He’s a hack. Man, it would be all day playing with him.”
Rashad gave Jordan a chance to make yet another backtrack and asked if he was really sure he wanted to call the President a “hack.”
“Yeah, don’t worry about it,” Jordan replied. “I never said he wasn’t a great politician. I’m just saying he’s a sh***y golfer.”
Jordan isn’t too far off the mark. Obama is notorious for being a very slow golfer. According to The New York Times, the President often takes five hours or more for a round.
Still, the president is known as a competent golfer, maybe a bit better than the average duffer.
But it could be worse. At least he is not a rampant cheater on the links–like former President Bill Clinton.
