Federal Court Rules Prop 8 Unconstitutional

The 9th Circuit Court affirmed the lower court's ruling that Proposition 8, banning gay marriage, was unconstitutional. A section of the opinion released by the court reads: ‎"Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians ... and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior ... the Constitution simply does not allow for 'laws of this sort.'" 2 Feb 2012 post a comment
