It is believed that Anderson, who is a former Marine and served in Iraq and Afghanistan, pulled Luce out of the plane and the two were able to make it to a nearby road where they flagged down some help. Both were taken to a hospital, but Anderson’s burns and smoke inhalation were just too severe. He passed away a few hours later. Hannah Luce is alive, but remains heavily sedated.
