FLASHBACK: Obama, Advisors Agreed 'The Buck Stops' With President

In July of this year, the President and his advisors spent one weekend coordinating messaging that told the world that “the buck stops” with the President. Rahm Emanuel said that “as President, you can’t have a sign on your desk that says ‘Gone Fishing.'” Axelrod and Obama both used the same Harry Truman analogy to say that any executive is responsible for what happens under his watch.

This is now contradicting the administration’s current position on the security for the Benghazi consulate in Libya. CNN reports that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attempted to “distance the State Department from the White House” by saying that “the buck stops” with her for the security of overseas diplomatic facilities.
