Navy SEAL Killed In Mission To Rescue Doctor Kidnapped By Taliban

FOX NEWS: A member of Navy SEAL Team 6 was killed over the weekend on a mission to rescue an American doctor who had been kidnapped by the Taliban. The rescue mission began early Sunday morning in Afghanistan after intelligence revealed that the kidnapped American was in imminent danger of injury or death. Dr. Dilip Joseph was an adviser for Morning Star Development, a group that helps rebuild communities in Afghanistan.

The doctor was not injured and should return to the U.S. in a few days.

While the identity of the Navy SEAL has not been released, his sacrifice is being praised. President Obama issued a statement reading, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, just as we must always honor our troops and families. He gave his life for his fellow Americans, and he and his teammates remind us once more of the selfless service that allows our nation to stay strong, safe and free.”
