Carney: More Senators Supported Hagel After Challenging Hearing

Secretary Jay Carney claimed during the White House press briefing today that more Senators have confirmed a “yes” vote for Chuck Hagel — the nominee for Secretary of Defense. Although multiple news reports have said that Senators were “shocked” that Hagel was “ill-prepared” for the hearing, Carney confirmed that the White House believes Hagel garnered more support.
