BEN SHAPIRO, BREITBART NEWS: The media did a couple of things with this story, and so did the Obama administration. This is from the outside. It looked like the first thing that they did was they turned it into a race story to sell papers, to jack up ratings, but also because President Obama was in the middle of a re-election campaign, and there was a bit of racial polarization going on in the campaign. The implication was that racism, which obviously existed in your brother’s case, was the same sort of racism that was going to prevent Barack Obama from being re-elected. It seemed from the outside like that was an element. Do you think that was an eelement of President Obama getting involved?
ZIMMERMAN: Obviously, as an American who votes, the timing was questionable. I think that Mr. Obama’s most secure voting bloc could arguably be African Americans. I don’t know why you’d need to enhance a voting bloc that’s already pretty much in your pocket by going after my brother, or by taking America a step backwards by bringing up the color of your skin. I don’t think a white president would have been able to get away with the same thing from the Rose Garden in an election season.
