“Whether you talk to Haley Barbour or Charles Krauthammer or Bill Kristol – if you talk to what Bill Kristol said in 1994, there were a lot of health care alternatives, Republican alternatives. Bill Kristol doesn’t say that 20 years later. The thought leaders of the Republican Party, the people who are starting to push back against some of the nihilism are saying repeal is not enough. You have to repeal and you have to replace.”
“And there are people like myself, Mika, that think this health care system doesn’t work and think the president’s plan doesn’t work,” he continued.
“And there are people like myself that understand in this country [we] pay more per patient than any other country on the planet and I think one of the reasons why is because you have no market forces – no direct market forces in the system. I don’t think ObamaCare takes care of that. It’s just like public education. We spend more money per student than any country on the planet. And again, success is not rewarded. Failure is not punished. So Republicans somehow have to put together a plan. Bobby Jindal’s doing that.”
“But more importantly – we haven’t seen this over the past couple of years, but more importantly, when Haley Barbour goes into a room with Republican legislators, Haley Barbour will say, as will Charles Krauthammer, as would Bill Kristol – ‘Hey guys, being against something ain’t enough anymore,’” he added.
“The media class is the wall that we have to climb over for our voices to be heard. Once our voices are heard, then democracy will happen.”
