MSNBC's Harris-Perry: Abramson Firing Can Be Based on Merit, Sexist — Just Like Obama Criticism

MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry stated that the recent firing of New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson could have been both based on her merit, and sexist at the same time during her coverage of Abramson’s commencement speech at Wake Forest University on Monday’s episode of “Ronan Farrow Daily.”

Harris-Perry went on to discuss President Obama and argued “opposition to that president and towards his policies can both be about legitimate opposition and nonetheless have important political symbolic ramifications around race.” Ari Melber, who was filling in for Farrow, added that the Times’ initial downplaying of the story was a form of “privilege.”
