'Americans Have Learned It's Hard to End Wars': Obama Pulls Out of Afghanistan

Tuesday from the White House’s Rose Garden, President Barack Obama addressed what he suggested were war-weary Americans

Obama detailed the plan in which the U.S. military will reduce troops in Afghanistan after 2014 to just under 10,000 and then continue to pull them all out over the next two years until the U.S. military is completely withdrawn by 2016. The president said “This is how wars end in the 21st Century,” The announcement means Obama is ignoring his top military advisers in Afghanistan who recommend keeping 10,000 troops in place. Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and John McCain (R-AZ) slammed Obama’s plan as “short-sighted.” writing in a joint statement “The President came into office wanting to end the wars he inherited, But wars do not end just because politicians say so.”
