Obama Accepts Resignation of Jay Carney

On Friday at the White House daily briefing, President Barack Obama made a surprise appearance to accept the resignation of current press secretary Jay Carney. The president also announced deputy press secretary Josh Earnest will take over. Carney told reporters after the president’s remarks that his last three-and-a-half years has been an “amazing experience”.

The 49-year-old former Moscow bureau chief for Time magazine was the 29th White House press secretary after replacing Robert Gibbs in 2011.
