Robot Tops Usain Bolt's Speed

Researchers at South Korea’s Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology have developed a robot modeled after the Velociraptor that can leave the world’s fastest man in its dust. The robot does require a supporting arm to stay upright, but it can run 100 meters in 7.8 seconds, beating the record time of 9.58 seconds set by the world’s fastest man, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt. We won’t see it at the Olympics anytime soon, the robot’s purpose is delivery, reconnaissance, or search and rescue in places where wheeled vehicles cannot go.
