Manchin: I'll Vote Against Any CR with Syrian Rebel Funding

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) declared that he would vote against any continuing resolution to fund the government past the end of the month that contained funding to train Syrian forces in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on MSNBC.

Manchin blasted tying funding the government’s operation to training the Syrian forces, but stated, “Yes I will vote against the CR, if that’s [money to train Syrian forces in Saudi Arabia] rolled into it without the ability to debate it and extrapolate it from that, I will vote against it.”

He added, “I’m willing to stay here through the end of September to fix the CR. We need to and it’s ridiculous to have a funding mechanism that we need, it’s a shame that we have to completely keep band-aiding, and kick the can down the road, that we couldn’t get an authorization and a budget together until we have an authorization of spending to run our country, that we have to rely on a CR, and now they want to throw one of the most important decisions policy-wise that could affect generations to come. Don’t you think that’s a little bit asinine?”
