Obama: No 'Combat Mission' for Troops in Iraq

Wednesday at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL, President Barack Obama attempted to clear up the confusion over whether U.S. troops will be engaged in combat mission in the fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

The president said, “This is not and will not be Americas fight alone,” and he made clear the U.S. troops involved “do not and will not have a combat mission.”

“As your commander-in-chief, I will not commit you and the rest of our armed forces to fighting another ground war in Iraq.”
