Gutiérrez: Exec Amnesty Hard to ‘Unravel’ if Enough People Sign Up

Friday on MSNBC’s “The Rundown” with José Díaz-Balart,” Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL) said the more illegal immigrants who sign up for President Obama’s executive order amnesty the more difficult it would be to reverse.

Gutiérrez said, “The more people to sign up, the more unlikely you’ll ever unravel this,” adding, “Think about 3 million people. Think about 3 million people signing up. Who are these people? They registered with the government. They’ve gone through a criminal background check. They’ve gotten a work permit. They’ve followed stringent rules over the program. They have American citizen children. Now you’re going to be the president or the Chief Executive Officer of the nation that says you mean we got all these people on the books? They’re paying taxes, they’re going through a background check, and they have American citizen children, and now we’re going to deport them and their kids? That is my goal. To make this a reality for millions. To encourage people to take advantage.”

“This is an opportunity. That’s all it is. If we don’t sign anybody up, than we have failed miserably in our opportunity and our responsibility,” he added.
