Matalin on Obama NSA Speech: 'He Was for It Before He Was Against It,' Now He 'Is Dick Cheney'

On Sunday's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" on ABC, former Reagan and Bush adviser Mary Matalin observed President Barack Obama's drastic evolution on the NSA in the wake of his Friday speech:

“No it doesn’t, but I love what you just said that he was against it before he was for it,” Matalin said. “Now Barack Obama is Dick Cheney. ‘We need these policies. They are necessary for our security. The reason he is having a political problem … because one, trust. The nation has a problem trusting this government with personal data on account of the IRS tracking opponents of the president, health care rollout incompetence, or just in general – identity theft over Christmas. We don’t think we have control over the technology that is going to protect our privacy. That’s why this is a hard political issue.”
