Pat Buchanan: Paul Ryan-Patty Murray Deal 'At Best a Modest Capitulation' On Laura Ingraham's radio show on Tuesday, former Reagan and Nixon adviser Pat Buchanan explains his disappointment in Paul Ryan over the Ryan-Murray budget deal: "This is almost more dispiriting than anything else – this capitulation. They broke the caps on 30 percent of the budget. They’re going to increase spending by $45 billion this year over what the previous sequester would have done. And you know, they call it a victory and working together and all of the rest of it. We’re just continuing down the road at a somewhat lower rate of speed in the direction that we’re going. And it suggests to a lot of people I think that all the effort and everything put into it has really been to no avail when your top guy on economics supposedly comes home with a deal like this."
