WATCH: Boston Subway Door Opens During Ride BOSTON (WHDH) -- Video recorded by a passenger on an MBTA Red Line train shows a T door wide open as the train zoomed along. “The door would kind of shut and then it would just blow open,” said Erika Myllmaki, who took the video. Myllmaki was riding the train Monday when she noticed the door wasn’t closing. She grabbed her cell phone and started recording. “When we were in the tunnel it was scary because when we pulled up to the Andrew platform there was no platform on the right side. It opens on the left,” said Myllmaki. Myllmaki said the train wasn’t very busy, but it was disturbing to see. “I tried to flag down the train officer, but she didn’t see me. I went right upstairs and found a transit cop and told him the train door was open and he radioed somebody,” said Myllmaki. The MBTA said as soon as they learned about the door the train was pulled out of service. Officials said the door malfunctioned causing it to stay open. The MBTA has a new inspection procedure for older Red Line cars and all of those cars are being inspected, according to the MBTA. This all played out on April Fool’s day, but it was no joke. “When we got to one of the stops though a guy kind of jokingly tried to jump out, not like on it…but I was like please be careful, I don’t want someone to get hurt,” said Myllmaki.
