GALVESTON, TEXAS–Donald Post, a 68-year-old man, was convicted this week in federal court for production and distribution of child pornography involving a 4-year-old girl. Additionally, he pled guilty to possession of child pornography.
Post, from Houston area suburb League City, was arrested in August last year. He admitted in a plea agreement to photographing a 4-year-old girl in lewd and lascivious poses and then distributing the images on the Internet. According to an FBI statement, Post also authored a document that detailed his activities with the young child victim. The document contains “incredibly graphic” accounts of his acts with the girl and also makes reference to his prior acts of child molestation which previously earned him a conviction and registration as a sex offender.
Federal Judge Gregg Costa accepted the guilty plea and set a hearing date in May for sentencing. Post could spend the rest of his life in prison for his involvement in these actions. He could also face a fine of up to $250,000. Should he ever be released from prison, he would face a lifetime of supervision and would again have to register as a sex offender.
This arrest and conviction is part of an ongoing federal program called Project Safe Childhood which began in May 2006. The program works with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Child marshals, federal, state and local law enforcement officials. They are tasked with locating, apprehending and prosecuting those involved in the sexual exploitation of children.
