Breitbart Texas Contributing Editor Sylvia Longmire was featured in a story produced by KVOA-NBC Tucson this week as an analyst in a recent episode involving Mexican soldiers allegedly crossing the border and attacking American citizens. Longmire argued that while such occurrences are relatively common, the set of facts regarding the recent incursion remain unclear.
“From what I understand, this has happened hundreds of times before,” Longmire told KVOA. She explained that Mexican personnel claimed to be in pursuit of drug smugglers just south of the American border.
“However, I believe there was some confusion as to whether that’s what the Mexican Army was doing because there was no evidence found by the Border Patrol of any drug smugglers in the area,” Longmire added.”
According to KVOA:
In January, soldiers from this lonely outpost of the Mexican Army drew their guns on U.S. Border Patrol agents just 50 yards into the United States. Then in March, they opened fire on Javier Jose Rodriguez, a young Tucson man visiting family in Sásabe when he was driving around the town early on a Saturday morning after drinking beers with friends. Rodriguez was shot in the arm and in the side, he spent three weeks at University of Arizona Medical Center.
According to recorded interviews, federal agents took a number of local statements as part of an apparent investigation into the matter–one local rancher claimed he had not heard back from American agents since.
Javier Jose Rodriguez is in recovery and planning to return to work soon, according to the local report.
