RickPAC Fights Back With Hard Hitting New Video

AUSTIN, Texas — RickPAC, Texas Governor Rick Perry’s political action committee, struck a vicious blow at his political opponents today with a new video titled, “Setting the Record Straight“:

Perhaps most damaging is how the video begins: with a clip from a promotional video of Lehmberg’s, where  she is dressed in a business suit and says, “As DA, you need someone you can trust to see that justice is administered fairly. The mission of my office is to see that justice is done.” The contrast as the video then quickly cuts to footage of her field sobriety test and behavior at the jail, with voiceovers from news reports from the time, is harsh.

The approximately two minute video then interweaves footage from Perry’s press conference last Saturday, where he took a confident and defiant tone against the indictments entered for his veto of the Public Integrity Unit (PIU) funding, and video from the arrest of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, whose refusal to resign sparked Perry’s threat and ultimate veto of the PIU funding that she oversaw. The video expressly states that Perry’s veto of the PIU funding were “actions [that] were protected veto power under Texas constitutional law.”

The final quote in the video is Perry saying, “I wholeheartedly and unequivocally stand behind my veto.”

Rick Wilson, a Tallahassee-based Republican political and media consultant who has advised numerous presidential, gubernatorial, and congressional campaigns, strongly approved of the video’s strategy. “Rick Perry demonstrates exactly how you push back against this type of liberal prosecutorial abuse and unfettered lawfare: hit back fast, hit back harder,” said Wilson. “And don’t be restrained when it comes to making the personal political.”

Mark Miner, spokesman for RickPAC, told Breitbart Texas that this video is just the first of many messaging and outreach strategies they have planned, and shared the Governor’s confidence that he would ultimately prevail. “Our message is very clear, our goal is to get the real facts, the truth, on this issue out into the public,” said Miner. “And we’ll continue doing so.”
