Smuggler Caught with 25 lbs of Liquid Meth on Bus

HOUSTON, Texas — Border Patrol agents seized $796,000 worth of liquid methamphetamine at the Texas-Mexico border on Friday.

The drugs were being stored in 10 bottles of fruit drinks, KSAT 12 reported, and were being carried by a passenger on a bus. According to KSAT 12, the smugger was storing the meth “in plain sight.”

The seized drugs weighed 25 pounds. A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) spokesman reportedly claimed that the meth contained a crystalline ingredient that is extremely addictive.

A CBP spokesperson recently told Breitbart Texas that drugs like meth and cocaine are becoming an increasing problem along the Texas-Mexico border. Several weeks ago, $3 million worth of hard narcotics were seized on the border in the Laredo Sector.

The increase in such seizures comes amid the border crisis, which has included thousands of Central Americans entering the U.S. illegally.

Responding to the influx of Central American migrants, law enforcement has ensured a heavy presence in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector. But other sectors such as Laredo–which lies directly next to the RGV Sector–remains porous. Many have speculated that drug smugglers and criminals are taking advantage of this while law enforcement officers focus their efforts on assisting with the crisis in the RGV area.

Breitbart Texas took a large group of grassroots leaders to the Laredo Sector in July. Made obvious on the trip was how weak security remains in rural parts of the border. Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby said that the Laredo Sector is still “largely wide open.”
