Man Crossing Texas Border Busted with Child Porn

MCALLEN, Texas — A convicted sex offender is once again facing charges following his arrest at a Texas border international bridge with child pornography in his cell phone.

Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas reveal on Tuesday shortly after 1 a.m. 43-year-old Alfred Alberto Rosales, a U.S. citizen, walked from Reynosa into the border city of Hidalgo, Texas where a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer sent him to a secondary inspection area after a government database revealed that he is a convicted sex offender.

At the secondary inspection area officers asked Rosales to unlock his LG G2 phone and were able to stop him when he tried to delete some files from the phone. A CBP officer checked the phone and found various pornographic websites on the browser history some of which showed teenage males who appeared to be under the age of 18.

A special agent with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrived at the international bridge to interview Rosales who agreed to talk with authorities without having an attorney called, according to court records.
During the interview Rosales said the once or twice a week he would use his phone to watch porn and that sometimes child porn would accidentally appear. When the HSI agent asked him what keyword he used when searching for porn Rosales said he would type in “Boy”, the criminal complaint filed by the agent shows. Authorities did not specify how many pornography files were in the phone or had been browsed online using the phone.

Just hours after his arrest, Rosales went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby who formally charges him with one count of child pornography and ordered he be held without bond pending a detention hearing.
