The Right's Unilateral Disarmers

For several years now, some on the political right have portrayed the U.S. Export-Import Bank (Exim) as an exemplar of inappropriate federal government involvement in activities that should be left to the private sector. Worse, Exim is portrayed as engaging in “crony capitalism” – loosely defined as picking winners and losers on the basis of political connections, and favoring the former with taxpayer largesse. Founding Father: Richard M. Scaife

On July 4, 1826, two of America’s founding fathers – former Presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams – passed away. Their myriad contributions to the character and direction of this country have long survived them. Jul 4, 2014 3:15 PM PT

Putin's New 'Nuclear' Option

The escalating crisis in Ukraine being engineered by Vladimir Putin is taking on the feel of the Guns of August: an inexorable march towards a wider conflict, and perhaps a conflagration. Jul 3, 2014 9:51 AM PT

Milbank Exposed: Media Lapdog Slimes Benghazi Coalition to Protect Obama

I had a ringside seat on Monday as a “mainstream media lapdog” performed for his masters in the Obama administration. What made it a man-bites-dog story, though, is that the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank was so abject in his submission that he was called out for it even by an organ of the left like Politico. Hillary's Bad Choices

Hillary Clinton has launched a saturation bombing campaign on American audiences as she aggressively promotes her new book – and, in the process, tries to salvage her 2016 presidential campaign before it is even announced. Jun 10, 2014 11:54 AM PT

How Barack Obama Ends Wars

In discussing last week his decision to eliminate essentially all U.S. forces from Afghanistan by the time his term of office ends, Mr. Obama declared: “This is how wars end in the 21st Century – not through signing ceremonies but through decisive blows against our adversaries, transitions to elected governments, security forces who are trained to take the lead and ultimately full responsibility.” Jun 2, 2014 12:56 PM PT

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

The International Center for Religion and Diplomacy (ICRD) is a Washington-based non-profit organization that, like many working these portfolios, happens to have worrisome ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. May 27, 2014 4:05 PM PT

Jeh Johnson, Obama's 'Fixer'

Earlier this month, the newly installed Secretary of the Homeland Security Department, Jeh Johnson, met with the father of a man murdered by an illegal alien who was allowed to drive without a license, thanks to the sort of immigration policies favored by Mr. Johnson, President Obama, other Democrats, and a smaller number of Republicans. Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Minute: Save Meriam Ibrahim

Move over, Boko Haram. Adherents to the totalitarian Islamic doctrine called shariah have a new victim. She’s a convert to Christianity in Sudan sentenced to be flogged and then hanged for refusing to renounce her adopted faith.

This barbaric ruling is made even more appalling because the woman in question, Meriam Ibrahim, is pregnant. Her wheelchair-bound husband, Daniel Wani, is totally dependent upon her care. He also happens to be a naturalized American citizen.

And the couple’s first child is a twenty-month-old named Martin, who is imprisoned with his mother. He, too, is an American citizen.

Sudan’s Islamist government is arguably the world’s worst pariah regime. Ours is complicit in its shariah supremacism, however, if Washington does nothing to prevent the destruction of Meriam Ibrahim and her family for following Jesus.

Obama's Empty Reassurances

Barack Obama’s chickens are coming home to roost in Asia. During his ongoing trip to America’s most important allies in the region, he has been buffeted by ill-concealed anxieties at every stop that, these days, it is better to be an enemy of the United States than its friend. Unsafe Spaces: Islamist Mosques

The contempt that America’s enemies have for the United States these days is palpable. The most obvious current example is Vladimir Putin’s disdain for President Obama, whom he regards as little more than a speed-bump on the road to his conquest of Ukraine and perhaps other nations in what the Kremlin calls Russia’s “near-abroad.” Apr 16, 2014 10:02 AM PT

The 'No Electric Resiliency Cabal'

Last Thursday, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee convened what appeared to be a most timely--and much-needed--hearing. Its title was “Keeping the lights on: Are we doing enough to ensure the reliability and security of the electric grid?” Unfortunately, despite abundant evidence to the contrary, the answer we got from industry witnesses, regulators, and legislators alike was an unfounded, and profoundly misleading, “Yes.” Apr 14, 2014 1:11 PM PT
