Former IRS boss Lois Lerner pled the 5th amendment during the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing, but not before making a statement that she had done nothing wrong and was innocent of breaking any laws. South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy (R) took issue with Lerner's refusal to answer questions, saying that she revoked her 5th amendment rights when she remarked that she had not broken any laws or done anything wrong.

Florida Governor Rick Scott just signed the state's $74.1 billion budget on Monday, but not before vetoing $368 million in special projects and proposed tuition increases. Scott is being hailed for his use of the line-item veto to gut unnecessary pork from the budget, and for giving pay raise $480 million to teachers, $45.5 million for business incentives, as well as other environmentally friendly initiatives like Everglades restoration,which will receive $151.8 million.
