Lapdog That Didn't Bark: FCC Intrudes on Newsrooms

The mainstream media's relentless left-wing bias is maddening. This, however, is scary -- not the idea that the Obama Administration is planning to place federal officials in newsrooms. Government wants to control things. That's what they do. No, what is scary is a mainstream media that would be apoplectic if a Republican administration did the same being content to roll over when Obama threatens their freedom. Feb 20, 2014 10:54 AM PT

Al-Jazeera America Launches Left-Wing Docs

According to the latest report, Al-Jazeera America's (AJA) ratings are exactly zero. Although available in 55 million homes, no one is watching. Worst of all, AJA has had absolutely no impact on the national conversation. Nothing the cable news network has so far done has penetrated anywhere -- which is all that matters to the media To try and remedy this, AJA is set to unfurl a number of left-wing documentaries. Hollywood Playbook: Thursday's Top 5 News Items

In a New York Times op-ed actor James Franco takes an "empathetic view" of Shia LaBeouf's "questionable behavior." This includes LaBeouf's short film which blatantly and without attribution plagiarized graphic novelist Daniel Clowes. Franco seems to want to write it all off as the need for famous actors to "act out" and separate themselves from their public persona. Feb 20, 2014 6:54 AM PT

Headline News Surrenders: Greenlights Reality, Game Shows

If CNN chief Jeff Zucker was hired to make CNN and Headline News (HLN) dumber without increasing ratings, his tenure can only be described as a wild success. As CNN moves towards weather, local crime stories, whales, Wolf Blitzer's phony partisan outrage, and everything cruise ship, HLN is pretty much throwing in the towel on news coverage to launch a half-dozen reality and game shows. NBC: Married with Child 'Alternative Lifestyle'

A revealing reminder of the provincial, bubbled leftists that run our media can be found in an NBC News piece profiling Olympic gold medal skier David Wise. NBC informs us in its headline that what led Wise to Olympic gold was his "alternative lifestyle." NBC was apparently surprised to learn that at 23 years-old, Wise is already a husband and father. WaPo: BuzzFeed's Trump Hit Contains 'Glaring Unprofessionality'

In his rundown of the back and forth between BuzzFeed and Donald Trump, Washington Post media reporter Erik Wemple rips the left-wing site for what he describes as a "glaring professionality." This piece of "glaring unprofessionality" is nothing less than the article's opening sentence. Feb 19, 2014 8:45 AM PT

Hollywood Playbook: Wednesday's Top 5 News Items

"On one hand, there’s the image of this character who went through a process of rebirth and now she’s putting her feet back on the ground, taking her first baby steps towards a new life, and in a bigger metaphorical sense, there’s this comment of evolution. Even more literally, life came from space—not unlike our character reentering earth and colliding with the water." Feb 19, 2014 7:23 AM PT

Wolf Blitzer Wins Media Matters Love for Rant Against Wendy Davis' GOP Opponent

Watch for eight-minutes as CNN's Wolf Blitzer uses something Ted Nugent said a month ago as an excuse to beat up Texas Republican Greg Abbott on behalf of the gubernatorial campaign for Democrat abortion-extremist Wendy Davis. Blitzer even proves he can access Wikipedia by dredging up some obscure Jewish slur as a way to attack Nugent (and by extension Abbott) as racist. Feb 18, 2014 2:48 PM PT

Hollywood Playbook: Tuesday's Top 5 News Items

Variety reports more trouble for director Darren Ornofsky's "Noah," the $125 million Paramount tent-pole scheduled to be released next month. A religious organization called Faith Driven Consumers found that 98% of its own supporters were not "satisfied" with "Hollywood's take on religious stories" like "Noah." Feb 18, 2014 12:25 PM PT

'Million Dollar Baby' 10th Anniversary Bluray Edition

Ten years after the fact it still surprises me that actor/director Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby" (2004) got itself embroiled in the then-red hot national debate over assisted suicide. The story of an aging trainer running on fumes and a mountain girl with one last chance had nothing to do with politics. This was a story about people …. about a tender father-daughter relationship between two lost and lonely people that you're led to believe might save them before it all goes so horribly wrong. Photo Proof of My Zimmerman-Media 'Jerk Store' Theory

Photo below is a screen shot of the Google News page when you search for Michael Dunn. As you can see, next to the top story is a photo of George Zimmerman, who has as little to do with the Dunn case as I do. Feb 17, 2014 11:37 AM PT

Michael Dunn: The Zimmerman Media's 'Jerk Store' Trial

After being spectacularly humiliated and exposed in their hysterical, corrupt, and racist year-long attempt to lynch the Hispanic George Zimmerman as a white racist, the media is now trying to balm their gaping wounds with a contrived second kick at the can with the trial of Michael Dunn; who like Zimmerman lives in Florida and claimed self-defense in the shooting death of a black teenager. NBC's Chuck Todd: Wendy Davis 'A Candidate Who's Not Ready'

On Monday's edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe," Chuck Todd agreed that the opening of Robert Draper's Sunday New York Times profile of Texas Democrat and gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis was "very puff," but said it "also painted the picture of a candidate who's not ready." Feb 17, 2014 8:52 AM PT

Hollywood Playbook: Monday's Top 5 News Items

What's interesting is that while it is unconscionable to defend Polanski, it is not impossible to defend Allen. He was never prosecuted, much less found guilty of molesting Dylan. He has remained married to Soon-Yi since 1997. There's no pattern of child molestation that we are aware of. Feb 17, 2014 8:18 AM PT
